To me Jan Brett is the queen of winter. Her stories are not always quite written right, but her illustrations make up for it. Bear Snores on is fantastic. Tomie dePaola's memoir inspired picture books (Watch out for Chicken feet in your soup; The Baby Sister) and his nonfiction (The Popcorn Book) and Pancakes for Breakfast are all cozy. As you head into spring in AZ, Dianna Aston seed, nest, and egg books might be the mood.
