I would love a list of books for boys! I have three 5½ and under, and they love to be read to, and pour over picture books!

I'm working on one now! I'm hoping to have it ready for next week.

I'm excited that you're reading my book, Rachelle! Looking forward to your review. I'm glad you are liking it so far!

Not a children's book, but sort of funny, but certainly scandalously lacking in charity is the pastoral visit in the beginning of Jane Eyre.

"Stay in good health and never die"

I don't think I've ever gotten my hands on mountain born. Looks fabulous

Oh, yes! The Jane Eyre scene! (Maria's comment!)

Two disastrous pastoral visits that come to mind:

(1) In the "Grandma's Attic" series, Ma yells at a pastor coming to visit, thinking he is a child pulling a prank by knocking on the door and running,

(2) In "Rainbow Valley," the minister comes to visit on the disastrous day when Aunt Martha has killed Faith's beloved pet rooster for the special dinner, and Faith demurely says nothing while the minister's coattails catch on fire.

"Mountain Born" is one of my favorites. Love that book. We also absolutely adore "Owls in the Family" - one of the best out there.

Did you know that there's a nearly identical liniment-in-cake story in one of the "Grandma's Attic" books? That bottle must really have similar to the vanilla bottle in those days!!

You name two books I haven't read yet - the Chesterton and the Nesbit (love both authors) - I'll have to check those books out!

My reading right now:

Children's Books:

- "Skating Shoes" by Streatfeild (love this series)

- "Rainbow Valley" by L. M. Montgomery

- "Enemy Brothers" by Savery

For Adults:

- "This Is Your Brain on Birth Control" (Hill) - amazing book, just lots of profanity

- "Brothers Karamazov" - just finished, finally!

- "Tolkien: A Spiritual Biography" - finally got a copy, on your recommendation - this is such a good book!!

- "Beyond Order" (Jordan Peterson) - so good!

And some others I'm forgetting. :)

I forgot about that scene in Rainbow Valley! And yes, when I read the questions aloud to my kids, they all thought the liniment scene came from Grandma’s Attic.

You have so many great books going at once, Diana!
